Ano Ba Yung PARES?

“Tuwing umuulan at kapiling ka.” Everybody knows this place at Retiro ( although, I didn’t -till my husband brought me here). It is the original Pares Mami House ( it reminded me of the turu-turo/karenderya, back home).

Since it is the rainy season, with LPAs, rain fall values at yellow and habagat on the side, my husband and I, recently, frequent the place.

PARES, as the name of the place suggests, have this specialty food that comes in pair. Or as in my favorite bini-saya pick up line:

“France ko, kay Ikaw ang akong Pareees.”

Pares is beef chunks and ligaments, served in special sauce. It also comes with fried garlic rice and a bowl of soup.Yeah!

Yes, the place is along the roadside, the dining experience is alfresco and the dress code is “maskipaps.”

( Yes, Ate Vi, pumupunta po ako, sa karenderyang bukas, sa lahat ng gustong kumain.)

Thus, this post is lovingly dedicated to Pares, in Retiro.

It is also dedicated to my husband who loves this place, so much – since it brings back, happy gastronomic memories to him. ( most especially the beef ligaments.)
