Philosophy 2 to 3.5: My Son Rafa
And well, kids just say the darnest things.
# 1.
RAFA:
“Mom , how did I get here?”
RAFA’S MOM:
“Oh, Jesus gave you to us, sweetie.”
A long pause as if thinking really hard,
RAFA:
“Mom, pumunta ba dito si Jesus sa Balut , ha Mommy?
Nagtaxi ba siya, ?”
(“Mom did Jesus come here in Balut ( our place), hmm Mommy?
Did He ride a taxi?”)
( huh.)

RAFA:
*Mom , where is Michael Jackson?
RAFA’S MOM:
“He is in heaven , sweetie.”
RAFA:
“Mom Noooooooh!He is not.”
“But He said “He’s BAD “, mommy!”
Because I’m Bad, I’m Bad-
Come On
You Know I’m Bad, I’m Bad-
You Know It
…..
And The Whole World Has To
Answer Right Now
Just To Tell You Once Again,
Who’s Bad ?

RAFA:
“Tonight, I am angry at you mommy!”
MY HUSBAND:
“Hey, do not say that to your mom. She is your Mom.
Do not even use the word angry with the word Mom. “
RAFA ( thinking again:)
“Galit ako sa Asawa mo Daddy!
( I am angry at your Wife, Daddy!)
Objection Sustained. Rephrase.
#4. In Ocean Park, Hongkong while riding the Cable Car ,
my son Rafa said
Mom what do you call this?
RAFA’S MOM:
Oh , this is a Cable Car….
RAFA:
Where are the wheels? Mom, nooooooh THIS IS NOT A CAR!
#5. In Singapore this time, as we sat down at the backseat of our tour van ,
My son kept on craning his neck as if looking for something.
He just could not stay still.
And then as the van was already running,
He suddenly whispered in a horrified voice…
“Mom look, did you see that?”
“Our van?… NO DRIVER(??..)”
( I forgot to tell him that as oppose to the Philippines, Singapore is on a right hand drive and the driver would not be in his usual place.)
#6.
After playing with Sky, the dog of his Uncle Chardy & Auntie Avic
My son RAFA decided:
“Mom! Mom! I want a dog, NOW!
I want a dog just like Sky! “
RAFA’S MOM:
“Hey Rafa we cannot keep dogs here, Daddy told you that already. Remember we did not bring home the dog that Ninong Joe ( his Godparent) was suppose to give you?
We do not have a place for a dog here, not yet.”
RAFA:
Even Mickey has a dog and he is a just a MOUSE !
