Thank You For Presents

“Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
And today?
Today is a gift.
That’s why we call it the PRESENT.” ~Alice Morse Earle

Speaking of presents, I am very thankful that I have been surrounded with generous people who shower me with material gifts.

I cannot thank them enough, so let this be my way:

1. “Life is a train of moods like a string of BEADS; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

My friend Bevs who now lives in Gibraltar sent me this beautiful BEADS.
But more than being a string of beads, this symbolizes our friendship .It also reminds me of the colorful time we had, right after leaving the gates of U.P Diliman. We were then starting with our lives , struggling to make ends meet.

My friend Gibby Chan, a classmate from my old highschool,( Montessori de Oro ), sent me two beaded bracelets while another friend gave me a gold one.

I was so elated when I received them . And everytime I wear them, I could not help but think how they have carefully chosen the bracelets for me.

2. “The best COLOR in the whole world is the one that looks good on you.”
― Coco Chanel

The eldest cousin on my mothers side of the family, my Ate Fern is I guess one of the first person who have introduced me to make up and anything nice.

My first set of nail polish. My first Victoria Secret. My First Body Shop Lotion. My first Mac.My first Nars.

And she was also the first one who gave me NYC, the one and only make up brand which is not only in sync with my skin color but also with my knowledge on make up application.( which by the way is so terrible)

And yes, she sent me all these NYC treat:

I fell in love with their eyeshadow because it is totally thee “makeup for dummies”: It comes with a basic instruction at the back , on how to blend the colors.

A gift I love wearing nowadays comes from my sister in law Charlene. A present from her SG trip:

( Chanel’s Rouge Allure 62 , Ardent)

3. “The DRESS must follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress.” ~Hubert de Givenchy

Four years ago , my brother in law Robinson and my sister in law Christine gave me this maxi dress from Dorothy Perkins which I think shall remain a classic and a staple in my wardrobe:

( I happily wore it during my son’s first birthday.)

4. “I did not have three thousand pairs of SHOES. I had one thousand and sixty.” ~Imelda Marcos

My birthday this year brought this thong sandals along. It is a white thong Charles & Keith sandals from my sister in law Avic (who I presumed chose this for me because it totally matches the bag I received from my husband) :

My brother Marco’s first gift to me from his first salary at Accenture was this:

A black slippers from crocs which until now looks good as new.It has been one of my comfortable slippers , thus a favorite.

5. “The Brand is Our Touchstone”
~COACH, mission statement

My cousin Rochelle, from Richard’s side of the family , gave me this as a Christmas gift and I never took my eyes of it:

6. “A place for everything and everything in its place”
~Benjamin Franklin

I guess a lot of people know about my organized chaotic stuff that they have given me organizers which has been a total help to me:

Vitamin dispenser from my friend Marica:

A jewelry box from my friend Trixie:

And a travel organizer from my sister in law Charlene:

6. “A man with one watch knows what time it is; a man with two watches is never quite sure.” ~Lee Segall

I love Michael Kors’ tops, bags, and slippers. So I was very happy that my brother in law Jong and my sister Mirzi brought this along for me from their New York trip:

My husband Richard indulged me with my love for U.P memorabilia that he gave me this:

7. ” The rarest things in the world, next to a spirit of discernment, are diamonds and pearls. “
~Jean de la Bruyere, translated
from French

I have been fortunate enough to have received from my mother in law, classic pearl earrings and hoops. They are as timeless and precious as that of her being a loving grandparent to all her grandchildren.

I also have this necklace which I have hold on to for sentimental reasons:

This necklace which was given to me by my husband’s Aunt ( who purportedly maintains a strict no nonsense demeanor) signified my acceptance into the family.

8. ” Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship”~ Buddha

And yes Buddha , my best and only boy relationship is with my husband for he once handed me these:

And they define my mornings and afternoons, thank you Sweetie.

9. “The best portraits are those in which there is a slight mixture of caricature.”
~Thomas B. Macaulay

And there could never be a portrait of my love, so the song goes.

Rafa’s first gift to me that he presented with so much pride was this drawing. A drawing he proudly says is me:

10. “Rich is the person who has a praying friend.”
~Janice Hughes

And of course two of the many precious material gifts I have received are these Rosary Beads from bestfie Iris and my Auntie Mely:

I could never repay all your generosity.

Thank You.
