On Receiving An Award for My Blog

Chosen from among the many.

An announcement posted on the Facebook page of the Bloggers Association of the Philippines  where I am a member, caught my interest.

Its founder and head, Mr. Ver Garcia posted a bloggers competition. He encouraged the group of around 10,000 members – to participate on an ongoing search for inspiring blogs and blog posts.

At first I was hesitant because afterall, I did take a hiatus from blogging. The most recent post on my blog was written months before.

But then again I thought, there was no harm in trying, was there? I might had been just that blog they were looking for. I had always wanted to write with a purpose.

It was that bit on “inspiring blogs” that gave me the courage to join. I did have some blog posts that I was pretty sure, would count as inspirational. I had always thought of my blog posts as my coffee-time musings that were percolating on the sidelines, waiting to be recognized. I was so elated when I found out that out of the two hundred blogs screened, fifteen blogs made the cut; The Soapbox Filipina was one of them.

Earning my spurs.

My blog, The Soapbox Filipina was a dream planted  in my heart. It had been around that  time when “writing on ones diary ” , slowly evolved in this century and branched out into cyberspace in the form of blogging. It had been my personal lectern ever since my son was born.

Presently my son is now a teenager and he is currently enrolled in the premiere science highschool in the country. That is how long I have been blogging. I am also a mompreneur. I sell dried fish on line on Pier’s Dried Fish.

I was very happy that my blog post, on how the pandemic brought me to sell dried fish on line—was one of the the winning posts.

Circle gets the square.

The winners were invited to an awarding ceremony at the Grand Ballroom of the Coral Wing at the Okada Hotel.

On April 7, 2020, I together with the other winning bloggers of the Bloggers Association of the Philipppines was recognized by Viral Awards 2022.

I felt honored to receive the recognition.  I am thankful that the organizers recognized my effort as a blogger.

As I look back on my victories and defeats, I am even more grateful of the recognition. I am of course very thankful for my husband, Richard who is my business mentor and my number one fan and supporter, as well.

More than ever, I am thankful that I came across that post on the Bloggers Association of Philippines facebook page.

There really is no harm in trying and it might just translate into an award.

Thank you Bloggers Association of the Philippines and thank you Viral Awards 2022.

Special thanks to my new mommy blogger friends, Jecka and Nhatz and my lawyer sister, Steffi who were so kind enough to help me out as my videographers and photographers.

Post Script:

My award now sits on one of our newly built shelves that we call our “accomplishment shelf” which still has not been filled up because my son’s trophies, medals and awards still had to be sorted. At least I got mine on it, first. 😄
