Viral

The word ” VIRAL ” should be the most hackneyed word in present times.

1. The infectious agent

” VIRAL ” , the doctor said,
of the red left eye, that my son woke up to, one morning.

( It was pink eye – which may be bacterial or viral conjunctivitis or in laymen’s term: sore eyes. )

Viruses are something most especially feared, by parents like myself who have young ones.

They ranged from either the common colds or stomach flu virus types
up to those unexplainable strain, which many dread very much.

These viruses survive in host organisms.
They attack cells and replicate very quickly.

2. The web circulation

” VIRAL ” was also what gave life to
# AMALAYER.

Indeed it involved some cells or cellular processes,
a cellular phone, this time.
It uploaded a video of a woman not so politely arguing with the guard.
After which, was a viral take over.

Another occurrence, which was also viral in origin and involved a different kind of cell,
was the ” CEBU IN-MATES, DANCING TO MICHAEL JACKSON’S THRILLER ” .

Viral is that deranged animal that suddenly went wild and free,
straight to the jungle called, ” The Internet ” .

HARLEM SHAKE
K-POP
GIYOMI
OPPAN GANGNAM STYLE,

are just few of those, that made it to the internet and turned viral.

While the BARRETTO Sisters, ( actresses here in my country )
beautiful and talented at that,
seem to have weaker immune systems, than most of us,
for they just keep going viral, to no end.

( Gretchen, in a lip locked kiss with an actor. )
( Claudine, involved in a brawl with a news personality at the airport. )
( Marjorie, in an indecent exposure. )

3. The kindness bug

KINDNESS is contagious.

It can be passed on, from one person to another.

Well, I guess, I need not go far, to prove my point.

My father sent some of his siblings to school.

Later on without even being asked, my sister and I helped some younger siblings too.

In all our best effort, we could say we had contributed one way or another in making their lives better through helping them financially, till getting them settled in their jobs.

Now those three younger siblings, who we had extended helped to before,
are now helping the other younger siblings, especially the youngest girl in law school.

Kindness when put into practice, multiplies the effect.

I can not wait for the day, when those random acts of kindness would infect the whole world, really.

I loved that video entitled, ” Kindness Boomerang ” created for
Life Vest Inside .

4. The Success zone

SUCCESS can also be viral and contained in ones locality.

If only to map out an ” out break ” of success, there seemed to be a deluge of it, in General Santos City.

( And being the TUNA Capital of the Philippines, success in this place, should be gastric in nature with tuna being rich in OMEGA -3 and B vitamins.)

” The City of General Santos (Filipino: Lungsod ng General Santos, Cebuano: Dakbayan sa General Santos, also known as Dadiangás, and abbreviated G.S.C. or GenSan) is the southernmost city in the Philippines. “

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Santos_City

It would always give me goosebumps when Michael Buffer,
( of the, ” Let’s-get-ready-to-rumble fame ” ), on the microphone,
would loudly introduce Manny Pacquiao as,

” The Fighting Pride of General Santos City, Philippines… “

*The city boasts of three professional boxers:

Nonito Donaire,
Rolando Navarette

and of course Manny Pacquiao.

* While XB (Extreme Boyz) dance group,
the first grand champion of “Showtime ” a talent program of the television station, ABS CBN,
hail from General Santos City.

The city boasts of three movie personalities:

Gerald Anderson,
Ethel Booba

and Melai Cantiveros.

*The 2011, 3rd Runner-Up for the Miss Universe Pageant, the beautiful and intelligent,
Shamcey Supsup also grew up in Gen-San.

* YouTube singer sensation
Zendee Rose Tenerefe came all the way from that city to establish her niche in Manila.

* Also a YouTube singer sensation, Aldrich Lloyd Talonding who sang,
” Dance With My Father “

is yep, where else ?,

…from General Santos City, PHILIPPINES!

I hail from Cagayan de Oro City and I have never been to the place.

But I would love to change postal codes, especially if the achievements of their famous residents would rub on me.

I am so enamored with this city, especially because SUCCESS there, seem so VIRAL.

How could many of these successful personalities, coincidentally come from just one place? ( it must be the tuna. )

And well, for all these goings ons,
for the most common place word, ” VIRAL “ ,

may we have the immune system to handle it;

the tenacity to face it, on t.v or the web, despite the trials;

the time and continuum to be kind to one another;

and the indebtedness and gratitude for ones roots and origin.
